Alongside his consulting role in the UK, Mike works across the global Steer family to support our growth and effectiveness in delivering value to clients.
Mike has almost 30 years of professional transport experience, about half of which has been in consultancy at Steer. Outside of consultancy Mike’s career has been in railroads, and he led policy and strategy for the UK’s railway stations as Network Rail’s Director of Stations & Customer Service, led delivery of the network as a Route Operations Manager and drove performance improvement as Train Operator, Regional and National Performance Manager.
Mike’s consulting experience includes:
- high profile industry and strategic reviews (e.g. Williams Rail Review, Shaw Report, Mexican infrastructure development, Brazilian rail regulation)
- readiness reviews, major programme assurance and lesson learnt exercises for major change programmes
- advising on the detailed design and practical implementation of change in the railway sector for UK Department for Transport, Great British Railways Transition Team and Network Rail
- bid leadership and evaluation for transport services in rail and LRT
- policy and strategy development for stations (social value of stations for the UK’s Rail Delivery Group, station management model advice to Network Rail).
