Sharon Daly our UK Managing Director has been featured in the latest issue of Local Transport Today. Steer Davies Gleave appointed Sharon as its first UK managing director last summer. In an interview for Local Transport Today she tells Andrew Forster why the new role was necessary and explains Steer Davies Gleave’s areas of UK activity.
Set up in 1978 Steer Davies Gleave’s 40th birthday is approaching. So why, after all this time, was the decision made to appoint a UK managing director last summer? In the interview Sharon discusses some of the multiple reasons for this decision.
She talks about how we currently employ about 400 staff across 15 offices outside the UK, including a new one in Delhi, two in Italy (Bologna and Rome) and one in Spain (Madrid). But our two biggest international interests are North America and Latin America. Each of these have regional directors, so having a managing director for the UK too made sense. The UK managing director role also gives Steer Davies Gleave’s executive directors space to support business growth both here and abroad. And then there’s also succession planning to consider. “Growing from a small company to a company of 400 people, it’s important that we put some of these things in place for succession planning and giving opportunities for leadership roles.” Sharon says.
