Steer Davies Gleave’s Darren Pacey will be speaking at the ICE Club in Swindon on 6 February about our work in the West of England.

He will be focussing on the West of England MetroBus (rapid transit) Network which forms part of a comprehensive integrated transport strategy that aims to reduce car dependency and congestion in greater Bristol. The MetroBus Network, with an investment of nearly £200 million, has been designed to link and connect with existing rail and bus services.

The Ashton Vale to Temple Meads MetroBus route links Long Ashton Park and Ride with Bristol City Centre by provision of a new guided busway and existing highway improvements, making use of disused railway corridors and former landfill sites. The presentation will discuss the development of the scheme through planning and preliminary design to the making of the Transport and Works Order by the Secretary of State for Transport in December 2013 with an emphasis on the challenges in bringing together engineering, planning and politics. Construction is scheduled to begin in late 2014.

About Darren Pacey
Darren is a chartered civil engineer and is the client project manager for the West of England - Ashton Vale to Temple Meads scheme.
