Steer Davies Gleave senior hires

By Steer

To support our growing markets, Steer Davies Gleave is delighted to announce the recruitment of two high calibre experts with global credentials; Julian Sindall, as Head of Engineering within our feasibility and technical advisory services, and Peter Piet, who now leads our urban design and landscape team.

Julian Sindall
Julian Sindall: Julian, a chartered civil engineer, has worked in the rail industry for over 20 years and joins Steer Davies Gleave from Atkins. With a breadth of experience in both light and heavy rail, he has supported clients on high profile projects which include Stage 2 of Etihad Rail (a 650 mile section of mixed freight and passenger railway network across the United Arab Emirates), Docklands Light Railway (London’s first automated light rail system covering 19 miles and carrying over 60 million passengers each year), and the Košice to Vienna broad-gauge railway through Slovakia and Austria (a freight route of some 500 miles through mountains and across the Danube river basin).

Julian brings a multidisciplinary approach to projects, often working closely with non-technical clients, stakeholders and partners to develop innovative and robust solutions or provide independent reviews.

Peter Piet
Peter Piet: Joining from landscape architectural firm Martha Schwartz, Peter brings 30 years’ experience in landscape and urban design for public realm and city centre developments.

Peter is a chartered landscape architect and an environmental scientist. With global experience, having worked on Sowwah Island (a 280 acre mixed-use residential, retail, leisure, hotel and commercial  development in the heart of Abu Dhabi), the Walworth Road (an innovative and award winning design for an arterial street in central London), the Arabian Gulf University (located next to the Bahrain Formula 1 Sakhir Grand Prix Circuit) and The Corniche (Abu Dhabi’s five mile seafront promenade with cafes and plazas, community and arts centre, water taxi piers and biking network).
